It was a hot day today, upper 80s with little to no clouds. Spent some time in the pool, nothing like it on a hot day. As the sun was getting lower in the sky I noticed some wonderful reflections on the water. This picture is a little of that reflection. I found the reflection much more compelling than the original subject, this made me think of my oldest son.
Tomorrow he is off to Africa for three weeks. He will be helping orphaned children and putting on a couple of sessions of Vacation Bible School. I am so excited for him and proud that he is going. A parent always hopes that their child exceeds their own limitations. At the young age of 19, my oldest has done that in so many areas of his life, but none more than this, he loves serving and helping people. He volunteers and serves people in so many ways. He’s even given away possessions in order to help others. He does it without hesitation or reservation. Once again proving that for him, love truly is a verb.
Here’s to a son exceeding his father, in all the ways that truly matter. God’s Speed Matthew, may He keep you and bless your work and may He bring you safely home, His will be done.
